Children's Activity

It’s a legendary children’s day out – and not only today!

At Fort Nelson, every Tuesday and Thursday during the Summer and half term holidays is an action-packed children’s day.

What you can see and do today…

Commando Kids!

Active (and hyperactive!) younger visitors can have a go at our assault course, or try their hand at broomstick rifle drill – watch out for the shouting Sergeant! Also, have a go on our foam-rocket firing bazooka combat range, plus see and look inside a real armoured vehicle!

Commando Workshop

Get busy with paper, card and sticky tape and make a camouflaged helmet plus army-style combat body armour for yourself (£2 charge per child applies). In the Education Room. Sessions from 10.30 – 12.30 and 2pm – 4pm.

Children’s Alphabet Trail

Explore the fort – can you find all 26 letters? Collect a free activity sheet from the Information Point and follow the instructions – it’s a great way to see the fort!

Dramatic Interpretations

For high drama, watch one of our dramatic interpretations, as our resident professional actors in authentic costumes tell tales from history – sometimes stirring, sometimes poignant, always dramatic! These will be performed in the Theatre (near the café).

Entry to the Fort and children’s events is FREE, although a small charge applies for craft activities.

Do something different and bring the kids for a great day out!
